Group meeting via video conference (Zoom)
Tuesday, September 15th, 09:00 (MEZ)

Dealing with the unique situation of partial lock downs worldwide and home office solutions at our Institute due to the current spreading of the Covid 19 virus, we are now holding our group seminars and journal clubs via video conference. This procedure enables us to continue our research, enhance discussions and exchange important information.

Abstract:

Gauging is our fundamental guiding principle for the physical description of Nature. In condensed matter physics gauge formalism becomes indispensable for understanding of deconfined phases of matter which exhibit fractionalization of low-energy excitations, topological order and long-range entanglement. In this talk I will summarize on-going research in our group on quantum physics of the dynamical Z_2 gauge theory coupled to fermionic matter in one and two spatial dimensions.
