Large arrays of trapped neutral atoms have emerged over the past few years as a promising platform for quantum information processing, combining inherent scalability with high-fidelity control and site-resolved readout. In this talk, I will discuss recent work with arrays of alkaline-earth atoms.
First, I will introduce a toolbox for the control and entanglement of optical clock qubits and how it can be used to improve the precision of phase estimation. I will then introduce a scheme to extend this to qutrit entangling gates and discuss a hybrid approach of unitary gates and measurement-based quantum computing. Finally, I will share progress on the new apparatus we are setting up at Tel Aviv University with trapped Ytterbium atoms for quantum optics and quantum simulation.
