Group Seminar at MPQ & via Zoom: Quantum Optimization with Rydberg Atoms
Hannes Pichler, IQOQI
Group Seminar in MPQ lecture hall & via video conference (Zoom)
Tuesday, May 24, 9:00 am (MEZ)
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group seminar will be a hybrid event, allowing participants to attend the seminar virtually and in-person. This procedure enables us to continue our research, enhance discussions and exchange important information.
Abstract:
Rydberg atom arrays offer novel opportunities to implement quantum information processing protocols. In this talk we discuss a connection between the physics of Rydberg atom arrays and the combinatorial optimization problem of finding large independent sets on a graph. We discuss encoding schemes and various implementations of algorithms designed to find maximum independent sets, approximate solutions, or approaches to sample from distributions over independent sets, as well as their performance.
