March 01, 2022

Johannes Arceri, Walter-Schottky-Institute, Garching
Group meeting via video conference (Zoom)
Tuesday, March 1, 9:00 am (MEZ)

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group seminar will be a hybrid event, allowing participants to attend the seminar virtually and
in-person. This procedure enables us to continue our research, enhance discussions and exchange important information.

Abstract:

The two-dimensional layered material hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has been shown to host defect states lying deep within its indirect bandgap, exhibiting bright single-photon emission up to room temperature. Besides being suited for monolithic integration, such quantum light sources display outstanding properties, including narrow linewidth as well as high efficiency and purity. This master’s thesis project strives toward site-selective generation of quantum emitters active in the visible range in h-BN by means of local helium ion irradiation.
