Group meeting via video conference (Zoom)
Tuesday, August 25th, 09:00 (MEZ)

Dealing with the unique situation of partial lock downs worldwide and home office solutions at our Institute due to the current spreading of the Covid 19 virus, we are now holding our group seminars and journal clubs via video conference. This procedure enables us to continue our research, enhance discussions and exchange important information.

Abstract:

I present results of our optical transport of Caesium over a distance of 43 cm using a running wave lattice. The lattice is formed between a Bessel beam and a Gaussian to hold the atoms against gravity over the full distance. Using a stable frequency source to detune the two beams, we transport 80% of our atoms in 25 ms. After the transport we manage to condense in our science chamber. The condensed atoms will be loaded into a single plane of a vertical lattice to investigate 2D topological physics.
