Lecture: Ultracold Quantum Gases

The course gives an introduction into the field of ultracold quantum gases. The lectures are combined with a weekly journal club, where we discuss original publications related to the lecture. Additional problem sets supplement the course. For more information on the content, see the "About Lecture" section. 



  • Due to the holiday, the first problem set (see "Tutorials" section) is due on Friday 2nd, before 13:00
  • Please find the tutorial distribution in the "Materials" section (and also the new set of material). Let me know if you need the password. The problem set will follow shortly (in the tutorial section, normally).

When: Tuesday 2pm - 4pm c.t.  in H107
            Thursday 2pm - 4pm c.t. in H107



Tutorials are planned for:

            Wednesday 8am - 10am c.t. in H107
            Wednesday 4pm - 6pm c.t. in H107

please let us know of any problems with these dates!

Journal Club

When: Usually Thursdays 3pm-4pm

In the (approximately) weekly journal club we will discuss original publications related to the course. The selected papers will be posted on the Website and should be read prior to the Journal Club. In weeks without journal club a regular lecture will be held instead.



Basic knowledge in atomic physics and quantum mechanics. Knowledge in statistical physics is helpful but not required.
